Antibiotics and steroids are effective in treating acute chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations in both the outpatient and inpatient settings, regardless of the severity of the exacerbation. Notably, studies performed in critically ill patients were not included in this systematic review. 1a
