Dr. Elise Sirois-Giguère is a specialist physician in general surgery. A graduate of Université Laval, she began practising in 2013 at the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean integrated university health and social services centre (CIUSSS). She implemented a fast-track recovery protocol for colorectal surgery to improve perioperative patient management.
Dr. Sirois-Giguère has been a member of the Clinical Excellence Committee on Health Services at the Institut national d’excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS), Quebec’s institute for excellence in health and social work, since 2019. She leveraged her interest in a population-based approach to health in her capacity as a physician advisor for the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS), Quebec’s ministry of health and social services.
In her role as assistant clinical professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Université de Sherbrooke, she teaches medical students and provides pedagogical training to professors. She performs management tasks for the Saguenay medical training program. She also teaches at Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC). Dr. Sirois-Giguère promotes healthy lifestyle choices, driven by a deep belief that prevention is the key to health.
