Does exposure to intravenous magnesium prior to preterm birth at 30 to 34 weeks’ gestation improve neurodevelopmental outcomes in children?

Bottom line

Children exposed to magnesium sulfate prior to preterm birth at 30 to 34 weeks’ gestation do not have better neurodevelopmental outcomes at 2 years of age than those exposed to placebo. 1b
