No benefit from additional statin loading before CABG in adults already receiving statin therapy

Clinical Question

Does additional statin loading prior to coronary artery bypass grafting surgery in adults who are already receiving long-term statin treatment reduce postoperative adverse cardiovascular events?

Bottom line

This study found that statin-loading therapy at 12 and 2 hours before CABG in adults who are already receiving statin therapy does not reduce the risk of  postoperative adverse cardiovascular events within 30 days. 1b

Study design: Randomized controlled trial (double-blinded)

Funding: Government
