Gaétan Tardif, MD, FRCPC, ICD.D

Gaétan is Physiatrist in Chief and Medical Program Director, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, a hospital of the University Health Network. He is also a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He completed his medical degree at l'Université Laval and holds diplomas in Sports Medicine and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Gaétan is very involved in leadership development and is on Faculty at the Physician Leadership Institute of the Canadian Medical Association/Joule where he teaches strategic thinking and practice management workshops.  He obtained the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2016 and recently joined the board of MD Private Trust.  He is a Past-President of the Canadian Society of Physician Leaders and of the Canadian Association of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

Gaétan was also the President and Chair of the Board of the Canadian Paralympic Committee from 2013 to 2017. He first started his Paralympic journey as a member of the medical team for the Sydney and Athens Paralympic Games, as well as Chief Medical Officer for the Salt Lake City and Torino Paralympic Games. He served as Assistant Chef de Mission for the Beijing 2008 and Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Games and Chef de Mission for the Canadian Team at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. He was first elected to the board of the Canadian Paralympic Committee in 2008.
