Caroline Somers is an innovative technology executive with extensive experience in the medical sector, as well as in building financial strategies, and funding and mentoring start-ups. Ms. Somers is currently the Board Chair for the Digital Opportunity Trust, Board of Director Chair for the CHEO Research Institute, and Past Chair and Director of the Capital Angel Network, which helps connect local entrepreneurs with angel funding. She is also Co-Chief Executive Officer and an Executive Coach with Cassidy Bay Group, which helps companies build powerful teams and executives to be successful managers and leaders.
Ms. Somers served as Chairperson of DNA Genotek for more than seven years, co-founded a successful technology startup, and was a Managing Partner for Band of Scoundrels for more than 15 years, where she helped build a fund and invest in nine startups. She was also a Director for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre, and a Member of the Strategy and Audit Committees and Chair of the Human Resources and Compensation Committee for Ontario Centres of Excellence, which commercializes innovation that originates in Ontario’s publicly funded colleges, universities and research hospitals.
Ms. Somers is a graduate of Queen’s University and the Directors Educations Program at the Institute of Corporate Directors.
