Important updates about clinical tools and services

As part of changes announced Mar. 1, 2023, the CMA will no longer be including clinical tools and services as part of CMA membership, as of the following dates:

Apr. 28, 2023:

  • Ask a Librarian 
  • InfoPratique (Apr. 28 will be the final issue emailed to members; after that date, members can access new submissions and archived issues at joulecma.ca/infopratique until Dec. 1, 2023.)
  • Clinical blog

June 28, 2023:

  • Journals and textbooks lists (subscription-based journals and textbooks will be available through ClinicalKey until Dec 1, 2023 or search open access journals via PubMed or open access books via the National Library of Medicine Bookshelf)
  • CPS
  • DynaMed
  • UpToDate discount

Dec. 1, 2023:

  • CPG Infobase 
  • ClinicalKey 
  • Essential Evidence Plus 
  • POEMs

Alternative options for accessing clinical tools and services

Physicians and medical learners may have access to clinical information tools and/or library services through alternative providers, including hospitals, health systems, medical school libraries or other organizations.

ClinicalKey

Different subscription packages are available through the publisher, Elsevier. Please note that current CMA membership subscription content is available to institutions only.

CPS

Canadian drug and therapeutic information is available through the Canadian Pharmacists Association. Contact the Canadian Pharmacists Association at physicians@pharmacists.ca or 800-917-9489 with the promo code “CMA” to receive a 40% discount off CPS Full Access. Additional discounts are available for groups of 20 physicians or more. 

DynaMed

Point-of-care summaries are available through EBSCO Health.

Librarian/research services

HealthSearch is a fee-based research and information service for health professionals and organizations outside the University Health Network community.

POEMs and Essential Evidence Plus

Daily emails and point-of-care information are available through Wiley publishing.

UpToDate

Point-of-care information is available through Wolters Kluwer. Discounts are available from the Canadian Federation of Medical Students, the Quebec Medical Federation of Students and the Ontario Medical Association.
