Emodepside highly effective against whipworm and hookworm in humans and appears safe

Question clinique

Is emodepside more effective than albendazole or placebo for the treatment of whipworm (Trichuris trichiura) or hookworm infections?

L’Essentiel

Emodepside provides a highly effective treatment for both whipworm and hookworm. There are short-term adverse effects that resolve quickly. Although emodepside is approved for veterinary use, it is not currently approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in humans and should not be used until it is FDA-approved. 1b-
