Reduction in emergency department visits and readmissions with postpartum hypertension management protocol

Question clinique

Is the implementation of a standardized postpartum hypertension management protocol associated with a reduction in emergency department visits and readmissions?

L’Essentiel

Implementation of practice guidelines for patients with postpartum hypertension (chronic and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy) to improve BP control from delivery until 6 weeks postpartum was associated with a significant decrease in ED visits and readmissions related to hypertension. almost 10% advert events ( hypotension ) is not worth this strict protocol !
what is more important : the patient or a protocol ?
the target should be patient results and not administration advantage = reduction of ED visits !
