As a hub for connection, collaboration and community building, Joule supports events that drive physician-led innovation. Joule is a proud sponsor of a series of Hacking Health hackathons that bring together healthcare and IT professionals, designers, policy analysts and entrepreneurs to collaborate, and solution current health care challenges. And, we always leave the door open for additional opportunities to support CMA members and the communities they serve.
Joule in the community
The Joule team is pretty tight-knit—with each other but also in the communities in which they live and work. We provide and support our employees with one paid day a year to dedicate to Community Spirit. Whether it’s filling sand-bags and providing lunches to those managing flood conditions in the spring of 2017, coordinating race-day activities for local charities or helping with Joule’s own community events, Joule employees give-back in immeasurable ways.
More recently, Joule has donated $1,000 to Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) to support their efforts to send a youth delegation to the 2nd National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Conferences in Perth, Australia. There, the youth delegates can expect to develop their leadership skills, share their visions for healthy communities and have opportunities to advocate for their peers. Most importantly, they will return with knowledge they can bring back to their communities.
The CMA Foundation was created by the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), in partnership with its subsidiaries—MD Financial Management and Joule— to provide impactful charitable giving to registered Canadian charities that further excellence in health care.
Working directly with physicians, medical associations, affiliates and business partners, the CMA Foundation provides grants to registered Canadian charities that directly support physicians through medical education, physician wellness, and outreach.
The CMA Foundation is also a trustee for a collection of Donor Advised Funds, offered exclusively by MD, that makes it simple and tax efficient for physicians to achieve their financial and charitable giving goals. More information is available through https://cmaf-famc.org/.
Supporting physician innovators
One of the things we are most often asked is, “how can I support or invest in today’s physician innovators?” We currently do not have a program for CMA members to do that but it’s definitely on our minds. For now, the best way you can support them is by helping us spread our message about events and grants and, if you are a CMA member, by participating in our Innovation challenges.
